Here is the list I mintain of all Chinchilla Breeders Codes that I come across.

This list is posted upon my web site and CU as well - which all will get updated as I recieve additions and changes.

This may be a silly question, but are the breeder codes registered anywhere or can anyone make up a pedigree using the code (picked at random) AC, saying it's Artful Chinchillas not Albatross Chinchillas?

If I was to use the code MW (my initials), is there anything to stop anyone else using it?

there isnt a reigstered list of the codes being used anywhere- which is why i originally started this one up.

Its just taken by most poeople that when a code is being used then other people out of courtesy avoid it so that others dont get too confused.

Can anyone tell me who AH is - the code i have is AH followed by year/number born that year and M or F - its on a Paul Spooner wilson white i just got last week from another breeder and cant find the breeder code on that list.

There are no special requirements at all. Most breeders use a prefix on a pedigree, for example I use FC as I call my lot Forest Chinchillas, I live in the New Forest lol. The list just helps you track any codes on your chins pedigree so you can see who bred what.

I have updated the list and removed the posts asking to be added just to keep this more streamlined :) If anyone knows of any more or notices any errors please let me know so i can make the changes.
